Tell us something about yourself
I am an independent fiction author and have been selling my work successfully since 2013. I have a strong presence on social media (Blog, Facebook, Twitter). My work is based on my extensive knowledge of nineteen century political, military and technological history. Most of my plots are set in locations where I have lived, worked or visited during an international business and academic career. My life has been adventurous, occasionally dangerous, and I have dealt with people of all levels internationally, from the poorest to heads of state. This helps enormously in portraying human reactions to complex situations.

What kind of books do you write?
I write naval fiction – The Dawlish Chronicles series – set in the late Victorian period with the plots linked to real-life characters and events. Most plots feature moral ambiguity as well as naval or political conflict. I’ve published nine volumes so far and the tenth is due for publication in December 2021. I’ve scored a consistent average of 4.5 Stars evaluation on Amazon. My main markets are (a) the United States – 75% and (b) the United Kingdom 20%.

How long have you been a BooksGoSocial member?
Since early 2021. I had been alerted to its services by an author friend who had a very satisfactory experience with it.

What do you like most about BooksGoSocial?
-
Personalised service – not “one size fits all”. Discussions are constructive. My challenges are systematically evaluated and case-specific suggestions are provided on how to address them.
-
Focus on addressing marketing of a series, not just of an individual book.
-
Worldwide focus: Amazon in the US, UK and Australian markets is essential for my sales. Advertising on Amazon is critical for this but the Amazon system for this is complex in the extreme and if incorrectly handled can result in high costs for disappointing sales. BooksGoSocial understands how to manage the system effectively – a recent success has been more than doubling my sales in one of the markets that were falling behind the others.
-
Tweeting notifications about my books to a far higher number of recipients than I have on my own follower list.

Would you recommend BooksGoSocial to other authors?
Without hesitation. I suggest an initial consultation to discuss the marketing challenges that confront every author.
